Epithalon is a synthetic tetra-peptide version of epithalamin (epithalon tetra), which is naturally produced by the pineal gland in the brain. The epithalamin peptide has been shown to have a wide range of beneficial biological activities in animal and human studies. Long-term exposure to epithalamin was followed by an increase in the mean and maximum life spans of aging of rats, mice, and flies. In human cells, epitalon stimulates enzymatic activity of telomerase, and telomere elongation, which can be due to reactivation of the telomerase gene.
Functions and effects
Epitalon’s primary role is to increase the natural production of telomerase, a natural enzyme that helps cells reproduce telomeres, which are the protective parts of our DNA. This allows the replication of our DNA so the body can grow new cells and rejuvenate old ones.Epitalon also plays a role in regulating metabolism, increasing the sensitivity of hypothalamus to its natural hormonal influences, normalizing the function of the anterior pituitary and regulating the levels of gonadotropins and melatonin in the body.As Epitalon has been shown to increase the production of telomerase which in turn strengthens and lengthens telomeres, this means that Epitalon can play a vital role in decreasing the aging process and thus extend human longevity.
Administration
When it comes to peptides, subcutaneous or intramuscular injections are the most effective. This is because peptides are easily broken down and destroyed in the digestive tract. This means that if you take Epitalon peptide orally, you may lose most of the benefits as most of it will be destroyed before reaching your bloodstream. Regarding Epitalon dosage, you should consult your doctor for a prescription based on your needs. On average, you may take 5-10mg per day, injected subcutaneously in the abdomen or belly button. It is advisable that you start with a low dose 1mg which can be adjusted upwards if need be. A cycle can be anywhere between 10-20 days, depending on the dosage, repeated twice a year.
